I Dinosauri - ██████ (ep) #2012

Death - ...for the whole world to see #2009

Death is the three Hackney brothers, fueled by the raucous sounds of Iggy & Co., creating their own take on the emerging sounds of punk. Socially conscious lyrics mixed with a sky-cracking combination of guitar and vocals, all recorded in raw fashion with little in the way of polish. Seek Death, my children!

The Ugly Things - The Ugly Things (7'') #1986

The (International) Noise Conspiracy - The first conspiracy #1999

Phil Ochs once said that the ideal band would be "the perfect symbiosis of Elvis and Che Guevera". Well, try this one on for size: The Who meets Guy Debord.
No shit. Featuring members and ex-members of REFUSED, SEPARATIONS, SAIDIWAS, DOUGHNUTS and THE FEMALE ANCHOR OF SADE, The (International) Noise Conspiracy aim to attack every instance of culture via dirty, raunchy, situationist garage rock. This is a collection of 5 7"s of T(I)NC's earliest material (originally released in Europe), entitled The first conspiracy.

"In vain we tend to search for the things that mean the most and imbeded within popular culture can we sometimes find the most amazing elements and techniques of subversion".

John Woo - Woodoo #2001

This italian band proves that sometimes also pasta-country has something to teach musically wise: imagine a cross between latest MAN OR ASTROMAN? and some deranged garage-punk unit, add some keyboards that sounds like an old Atari computer and a powerful yet fuzzy sound. More than that, these guys are hooked on aliens and UFOs as I am on porn, so you can imagine what a weird sci-fi-groove mess can be spread in your room while listening to this. Don't be stupid and get one as soon as you can, they deserve attention.

Virus - Live in Lourdes (7'') #2012

Universal Sex Arena - Women will be girls #2011

Scientists - Weird love #1986

If you've got plenty of disposable cash, there are about a dozen Scientists recordings available as pricy Aussie imports. But if you wanted one chunk of strum from Kim Salmon and his twisted pals, Weird love is as good (and inexpensive) a place to start as any, since it's the only Scientists recording to be released in the States. Loaded with pumped-up guitars and psychedelic flourishes, it's a bash fest from the start that is relentlessly powerful and intense. Not a new release per se, Weird love is in fact tracks collected from earlier Aussie-only recordings. Still, it's an accurate reflection of how good this band could be, and certainly will make you excited enough to want to explore more of their exciting, loud and rocking world.

Sedatives - Sedatives (7") #2008

One more time the Trashcue Team at P.Trash records strikes and provides the small garage-punk world with an already-gone gemstone that was originally released in Canada on the band's own Going Gaga records in an edition of 300 copies that went flying.
These four canadian gentlemen may be held responsibles for having written one of the best songs in ages with Slip away, a STATUES/PEGBOY-like earwig which, just like the other four companions on this record, has a dark and wavy WIPERS-edge and a grinding organ backing the cool and catchy melodies in smashers like Cannot calm down or Dead to the discourse. No mistake about it: this ain't no shitty sounding downer, this is some high-class upper that will make you wiggle and keep you wide awake all night long! You wanna be sedated by the Sedatives! Go grab it now, it's limited to 300 copies on clear vinyl and has a reworked and fancied-up artwork done by Matt at Doublenaut!

Mannequin Men - Fresh rot #2007

Every note on Fresh rot could carry a footnote identifying its source - TELEVISION being a major inspiration. As churning guitars generate jagged melodies, singer Kevin Richard plays the sleazy punk poet, hiding his sensitive side behind a sneering facade. Shameless recycling doesn't keep the Chicago quartet's second album from being great fun, however. Describing the shady practices of bad boys and girls, Private school and Mattress are smart, catchy, albeit tattered, pop tunes. And when Richard chants, We are free, it's easy to share in his wild-eyed euphoria.

The Mojomatics - Down my spine (7") #2007

When this italian duo first started making the rounds a few back they were lumped into the two piece BLOOZEPUNK thing but you could tell by listening to their songs that they definitely had an ear cocked to something a little more "pop" in mind. Here they sound like some damn catchy early 70's regional hit AM radio classic with all the frills and sweetening. Both songs bring a swing and a hook like if Brian Wilson only lost half his mind and kicked Mike Love out 20 years before the regular world found out he was a total dick and decided all that time spent in the studio was time wasted so he stripped down the band to some bare essentials and went on tour with the TROGGS as the opening act.

Cut - Annihilation road #2010

Make Up - After dark #1997

Few bands have ever accomplished the level of confusion that the NATION OF ULYSSES were able to perpetuate in their four short years of existence. The band's swagger, destructive live shows, and jazz-infused brand of hardcore mixed with their over-the-top political rants and uncompromisingly militant presentation to create a mystique that has nearly become legendary. After the NATION’s implosion, three-fifths of the band teamed up with ex-FRUMPIES guitarist Michelle Mae to form the Make-Up. Rather than just continue on with the self-created “Ulysses Aesthetic,” the four decided to go in a somewhat different direction. A direction called Gospel Yeh-Yeh. On their live album After dark, the Make-Up play rock and roll that is overflowing with jazz and punk tendencies. A strong rhythm section composed of Steve Gamboa on drums and Michelle Mae on bass consistently lay down a groove that makes a perfect foundation for James Canty’s sparse guitar and organ work. While all the musicians in the band are impressive, Ian Svenonius is the star of this show. On tracks like We can't be contained, the music serves as nothing but a backdrop for his voice. The former NOU singer rants, raves, screams, and baby-talks the audience in attendance through a journey filled with faceless political enemies, lack of hope, and even the birth of a child (well, metaphorically, anyway). The band wants you to dance as much as they want you to listen to their front-man's hysterical preaching. They dubbed themselves Gospel Yeh-Yeh with good reason.
After dark is an entertaining listen. The production is great, so you can pick out every driving note of Michelle’s precision bass work, and the energy of a live setting does wonders for Ian. Some points can drag a bit and Ian’s tirades may wear thin on some, but in the end After dark is still definitely worth your time, if only to hear an influential band's live show when they were still in their prime. Fans of REFUSED and T(I)NC should especially take note since Dennis Lyxzén just about owes his entire career to the NOU and its subsequent offspring.
