Bikini Kill - Bikini Kill (7") #1995

Bikini Kill is a feminist punk band that was based in Olympia, WA and Washington, DC, forming in 1990 and breaking up in 1997. Kathleen Hanna sang, Tobi Vail played drums, Billy Karren (a.k.a. Billy Boredom) played guitar and Kathi Wilcox played bass. Sometimes they switched instruments. Bikini Kill is credited with instigating the Riot Grrrl movement in the early 90’s via their political lyrics, zines and confrontational live show.

The band started touring in June 1991. In addition to touring the US several times, they also toured Europe, Australia and Japan. Bikini Kill recorded and released a demo tape, two EP’s, two LP’s and three singles. Their demo tape was self-released, while their first two records came out as a full length CD/Tape and their singles were posthumously collected on CD.

Bikini Kill believed that if all girls started bands the world would change. They actively encouraged women and girls to start bands as a means of cultural resistance. Bikini Kill was inspired by seeing BABES IN TOYLAND play live and attempted to incite female participation and build feminist community via the punk scene. They used touring as a way to create an underground network between girls who played music, put on shows and made fanzines. This independent media making and informal network created a forum for multiple female voices to be heard.

Giuda - Wild tiger woman (7") #2013

Giuda (pronounced JEW-DA) are an Italian five-piece band from Rome, born from the ashes of European punk rockers TAXI, and they have released a brand new video for the song Wild tiger woman.
Giuda released their debut album Racey Roller last year and now they're back with their mix of anthemic 70s glam hooks and the punchy delivery of early UK punk with their second album, Let's do it again, due out on December 9.
The band's influences include early 70s glitter giants such as SLADE, THE SWEET and T.REX; semi-obscure junkshop glam acts such as Hector and Jook; Vanda and Young's pre-AC/DC Aussie rock; and SLAUGHTER & THE DOGS' and EDDIE & THE HOT RODS' pub rock/punk.

Ice And The Iced - Drunk at the Duke #2006

Gli Ice & the Iced nacquero alla fine del 1979 dalle ceneri dei THE BASTARDS. Ice, Larry e Ronnie si conoscevano da sempre, abitavano sulla stessa strada, in quella città, Pordenone, che diede i Natali a quello che fu il più importante movimento punk italiano. Il 3 maggio 1980, a solo 3 mesi dalla nascita del gruppo e con un'età media di 16 anni gli Ice & the Iced si esibiscono come supporto ai già famosi GAZNEVADA al Palazzetto dello Sport di PN.
La band fissa la propria sala prove in un piccolo sgabuzzino battezzato The Duke mentre il motore manageriale viene affidato all'organizzazione Wiched Wolves, una specie di mafia capitanata da King Sexy Wolf.
È il 1981 e un'etichetta indipendente, la Trux records, propone al gruppo la realizzazione di un 7" ep. Le registrazioni avvengono negli studi A.T.A.V.F. (uno studio di registrazione posto sotto un negozio di elettrodomestici specializzato nella produzione di musica folk!), nello stesso posto dove, qualche tempo prima, HITLERSS e TAMPAX registrarono il loro famoso split.
Il risultato è uno dei singoli punk più riusciti di sempre con 2 pezzi come Poly.. e We've had enough che posseggono la statura del classico. 

Inizialmente il progetto prevede la distribuzione del 7" nei supermarket come ICEPACK: 7" + Pin + adesivo ma la cosa non riesce ed il disco, stampato in 1000 copie, viene distribuito ai concerti o nei locali negozi di dischi.
Con all'attivo 50 concerti suonati in giro per l'Italia e circa 60 songs la band inizia a pensare alla realizzazione di un Lp, sogno per molto tempo cullato dal gruppo.
È il periodo di maggior successo ma è anche il periodo in cui la sfortuna inizia ad accanirsi contro i membri della band. King Sexy Wolf muore in un incidente in vespa in cui resta coinvolto anche Ice. Ronnie e lo stesso Ice iniziano a vivere una vita sempre più sregolata e sul filo del rasoio che li porta più volte a rischiare la vita. Di ritorno dal Duke dopo una serata passata con gli amici a festeggiare i 2 anni di attività degli Ice & the Iced, la band rimane coinvolta in un pauroso incidente automobilistico, la tragedia è solo sfiorata e lì a poco la band cesserà di esistere.
2006: 25 anni dopo i pezzi della loro unica traccia lasciata su vinile vengono immortalati nella famosa compilation Killed by death mentre le copie originali di tale 7" cambiano mano per $450. Recensioni qua e là sul web, un video musicale con protagonista lo skater statunitense Corey mentre un recente sito web ufficiale è tenuto da Jared negli USA. La band riesce ad uscire da quello spazio underground che si era ritagliato all'epoca guadagnando notorietà internazonale.
Il disco che stringi tra le mani raccoglie le registrazioni dell'ormai mitico 7" ep insieme a del materiale recuperato fortuitamente dalla band su di una tape registrata al Duke nel 1980.
Ascoltando queste registrazioni mi auguro tu riesca a percepire, come è successo a me, tutta quell'angoscia esistenziale, quel disagio sociale e quell'energia positiva che gli Iced riuscivano ad emanare. Queste registrazioni sono il passato, il presente ed il futuro per tutti quelli che non hanno dimenticato il valore della ribellione, l'odore dell'amicizia che ti si appiccica sulla pelle. Dentro queste tracce ci sono i sogni della giovinezza, la memoria di fughe, di cazzeggi e casini del tempo che fu e delle tragedie della vita fino alla rinascita.
Fanne tesoro perché finché ci sarà qualcuno che ascolterà questi pezzi il sogno non si interromperà.

J Church - Society is a carnivorous flower #2004

J Church's Austin, TX lineup makes its official debut with this long-player for Gainesville, Florida's No Idea imprint. They pick up where 2003's split with STORM THE TOWER left off, with David DiDonato's second guitar adding another dynamic layer to Church brain Lance Hahn's already raucous SG and righteous, erudite, and awesomely cynical vocals. (Bassist Ben White and drummer Chris Pfeffer are no slouches, either.) Society is a carnivorous flower begins with Overconfident, a tingling, rousing number straight outta the early - '90s punk-pop zeitgeist (think: POSTER CHILDREN). But J Church will likely hate this comparison if they read this, as the song itself is a typically correct Hahn evisceration of music geeks' obsession with elitism and rock history. "You worship Nico/You spit on Yoko", but "We are nothing more that all the things that came before". Styrofoam is Hahn's version of a love song, while the out of focus, melancholic indie of 210 tracks Our Singer's acceptance of inferiority to a tattooed cool guy. "Compared to your youthful wonder/I'm just four tracks and shitty rhymes". Yikes dude! Other highlights of the album include the PAVEMENT-ish Austin's shitty limits, as well as the 15-minute title track, which is actually a clanging thematic opera in the tradition of the WHO, a punk revivalist serial that seems to draw parallels between the narrator's frustrated sexual desire and the failures of the class system. Catchy? Yes, as hell. But let it be said again -- J Church's pop-ish melodies and punk footing don't make them devotees of the sugar-smack safety pin kids populating Warped Tour parking lots. Now go buy Lance Hahn a drink and make him feel better.

Via Luminosa - Via Luminosa #2013

Non fatevi ingannare dal nome e dalla brutta copertina in stile new age: le radici dei Via Luminosa affondano saldamente nella scena hardcore torinese degli anni '80, quel posto cupo, incazzato e incredibilmente vitale che ha prodotto gruppi quali NEGAZIONE, DECLINO e NERORGASMO. Proprio da questi ultimi, diventati negli anni oggetto di vero e proprio culto, provengono ¾ dei VL (Simone Cinotto, Marco Klemenz, Francesco Dilecce). Alla voce troviamo invece Luigi Bonizio dei C.O.V., i cui testi (di quotidiana poesia) e linee melodiche appoggiano perfettamente sul solido sound post punk della band. Massima stima per non essersi lasciati sopraffare dal passato ingombrante, ed aver creato un disco emozionante e senza tempo.

Magazine - Shot by both sides (7") #1978

Although Howard Devoto wrote it with former Buzzcock partner Pete Shelley, Shot by both sides was the first single from Magazine, the band Devoto formed after the release of BUZZCOCKS’ Spiral Scratch 7”. Despite the fact that many critics and fans point to Shot by both sides as Magazine’s greatest moment, the song was merely a launching pad. It’s one of the band’s most straightahead arrangements – the tension-ridden nature would remain in place, but it’s a pretty standard driving punk song played by people who happened to be more familiar with their instruments than most of their contemporaries. What would follow from the band – trickier and more imaginative arrangements, crazy keyboard playing from Dave Formula (Bob Dickinson, who plays keys here, was gone after this single’s recording), even sharper lyrics from Devoto – truly set the band apart from all the others. As it is, Shot by both sides is still a remarkable, rush-inducing song. A couple weeks after its release, Top of the Pops invited the band to come down and mime the song. Not pleased with the prospect of not playing live, the band turned down the offer.

Dirty Actions - Apocrifo (10") #1996

Dirty Actions si formano a Genova sul limitare degli anni '70, in piena esplosione punk e, in breve, diventano la band di riferimento della giovane scena rock genovese, tanto da arrivare in pochissimo tempo alla prima produzione discografica, il 45 giri Rosa Shocking/Figli del demonio, pubblicato su vinile rosa dalla storica etichetta alternativa Cramps all'interno della collana Rock '80, che oltre ai Dirty Actions comprende SKIANTOS, WINDOPEN, KAOS ROCK ed altri protagonisti del nuovo rock italiano. L'uscita del disco dà il via ad una lunga serie di concerti e al ruolo di gruppo di supporto del tour italiano dei DAMNED.
In questo periodo la band si allontana progressivamente dal sound prettamente punk per avvicinarsi al funk e all'elettronica. L'unico reperto discografico di questa fase è il brano Bandana boys, che uscirà sulla compilation Gathered prodotta dal mensile Rockerilla, brano che entra nella storia quando il coatto-sintetico RanXerox, l'eroe più punk della storia del fumetto, lo "trasmette" attraverso la sua autoradio incorporata in un memorabile episodio pubblicato da "Frigidaire".
Nel 1982 la band si scioglie per consunzione naturale. Successivamente il cantante Gianfranco Johnny Grieco percorrerà la strada del reggae con il progetto solista BLACK MARIA, registrando nel 1986 agli studi Tuff Gong di Kingston, in Giamaica, il disco Insurrection, accompagnato dai WAILERS di Bob Marley e, piu' tardi Consciousness, dove sono gli ASWAD ad acccompagnarlo.
Vent'anni dopo l'inizio dell'avventura Dirty Actions, Grieco inizia la certosina raccolta di materiale inedito e nel 1996 pubblica l'album Apocrifo, che esce in edizione limitata solo su vinile 10 pollici.

Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti - Le origini: antologia di registrazioni private '94 '95 '96 #2002

Tre allegri ragazzi morti (Three happy dead guys, often shortened into TARM) are a rock band formed in 1994 in Pordenone, Italy.
The trio (Davide Toffolo, Enrico Molteni and Luca Masseroni) which has released several albums, has decided not to give its image to the media and they only imagine themselves in Toffolo’s drawings, which is an established comic-drawer. They also decided to hide their faces behind skull-masks, which have now become the symbol of the imaginary evoked by lyrics and live shows as well.
The band is independent since 2000, recording under the label La tempesta (The storm), which is the same label of Giorgio Canali and Moltheni.
Davide Toffolo started to play at the end of the eighties, when Pordenone, thanks to the near US military post, became one of the Italian capitals of punk-rock. There, a local movement of young musicians called The great complotto, give birth to a lot of punk-rock groups, most of them of short life. One of these band was FUTURITMI, which featured, beyond Toffolo himself, Gian Maria Accusani, current leader of PROZAC+ band.
The quite famous slogan of the band is Bacini & rock’n roll!: Kisses & rock’n’roll!

Andrea Mingardi Supercircus - Pus (7'') #1978

Nel 1978 il punk era molto di moda. E già ce n'eravamo accorti a Sanremo, quando una giovanissima Anna Oxa presenta una delle sue poche canzoni belle, Un emozione da poco.
Conciata da punk, colpisce diritto il pubblico televisivo ed il suo personaggio (costruito a tavolino) spicca subito il volo. Nello stesso anno i DECIBEL e i CHRISMA (ancora con la "Ch" al posto della K) seppure con risultati diversi, fanno molto parlare la critica specializzata.
Insomma, affiancato alla "night fever" imperante, c'è anche il punk.
E parla pure italiano!
Andrea Mingardi s'inventa una canzone divertentissima, un esilarante presa in giro del punk inteso come personaggio metropolitano, con tutti i suoi ammennicoli che vanno dalla spilla sulla guancia ai capelli a cresta di gallo.

Parlami ancora é un invito, é una speranza: di sentire ancora la forza, la solidarietà, la lotta delle semplici o profonde parole. Con questo disco, il quarto, festeggiamo dieci anni di vita. Il sentire é altrettanto necessario che il farsi sentire perchè la nostra musica cresce proprio là, nell’autogestione, nel Movimento Antagonista, nei centri sociali, dove crescono la forza e la cultura del mondo che sognamo. Le idee e le battaglie degli anni passati ci parlano ancora: noi proviamo ad ascoltare l’eco di ieri per costruire nuovi suoni oggi. Speriamo che questo disco parli ora e in futuro a te e a coloro che verranno.
Le canzoni presenti su questo disco sono state scritte in un arco di tempo molto lungo. Alcuni pezzi (L’altra faccia, Lo specchio, Strade vuote e Mondo mai visto) risalgono ancora all’ultimo periodo di collaborazione con Alberto, uscito dal gruppo negli ultimi mesi del 1990. Gli altri, più recenti, sono frutto della nuova formazione. Una volta pronte le canzoni, abbiamo registrato un provino con la collaborazione di Renato Fumasoli che ci ha prestato la roba, di Gianluca che ci ha aiutati a trasportarla, di Gigio che l’ha usata per le registrazioni. Dopo aver ascoltato e riascoltato e riascoltato le canzoni, eravamo pronti per entrare in studio; la scelta é caduta ancora una volta si Beppe Crovella ed il suo “Synergy Studio” di Colombaro Po. Assistiti da Beppe e dall’ineguagliabile Pippo Soldano, abbiamo registrato i pezzi dall’8 al 12 luglio 1992. E dopo averli ascoltati, riascoltati e riascoltati, li abbiamo mixati (sempre al “Synergy Studio”) dal 12 al 14 ottobre 1992.
Per quanto riguarda la copertina, una volta avuta l’idea dei partigiani, si trattava di trovare le foto. Ci é stato per questo prezioso l’aiuto di Paolo Momigliano dell’istituto Storico della Resistenza di Aosta, che ci ha messo a diposizione tonnellate di materiale originale. non meno preziosa é stata la collaborazione di Silvia del Progetto Giovani di Aosta,per la riproduzione delle foto, di Filippo per la foto del retro di copertina, e di Laido di “Le boycottage e le Sabotage” per la stesura grafica dei testi.
